My personal goal for working on this project was to significantly improve my data analytics skills—especially learning how to compute, clean, and structure large datasets in Google Sheets at an advanced level—while applying AI logic to a real-world environmental problem. When I started, I had limited experience working with complex spreadsheets or building automated scoring systems. Over the course of the project, I learned how to reorganize multi-sheet databases, create helper columns, write conditional formulas, count and flag data points, build confidence thresholds, apply filtering systems, and design audit-ready outputs that could be reviewed by domain experts. I also learned how to translate expert knowledge into rule-based logic that an AI system could follow, and how to debug formulas when outputs didn’t match expectations. By the end of the project, I was independently: Creating multi-column scoring pipelines in Google Sheets Designing quality-control flags for incomplete inspections Running large-scale batch tests across historical records Preparing stakeholder-ready summary tabs Revising logic based on expert feedback from stewards and project leads I do feel that I achieved my goal. Not only did I develop advanced spreadsheet and data-processing skills, but I also gained confidence working with complex, messy real-world data and presenting technical systems to professionals. The experience showed me that I can move quickly from learning new tools to applying them at scale, and it confirmed my interest in pursuing future roles that combine analytics, automation, and responsible AI in applied settings.
